WBSC becomes Associate Member of ASOIF Summer Olympic body

AARHUS, Denmark — Baseball and softball are now part of the Summer Olympic club.

During the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) General Assembly in today in Aarhus, Denmark, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) was admitted as an Associate Member of ASOIF.

ASOIF serves as the umbrella organisation for the world governing bodies of sports featured at the Summer Olympic Games.  ASOIF’s decision follows baseball and softball’s upcoming return to the Olympic Games in 2020.

World Baseball Softball leader Riccardo Fraccari, in attendance in Arhus, welcomed the news via Twitter.
