Lovely Professional University (LPU) has won the 2015-2016 All India Inter University Softball (W) Championship. Punjab University Chandigarh finished in second place, followed by GNDU Amritsar and Punjabi University Patiala who finished tied for third.

This year’s championship was held at the LPU Campus, where 65 universities from all across India participated aiming to grab the coveted trophy.

Chief Guest of the Final Day of Championship, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal handed over the glittering trophy to Championship winners. “We are happy to note that our women players have once again brought the top title for themselves and their university. It is worth mentioning that many of them belong to hard engineering/ management programs… I advise all the softball team members to keep up this winning spirit for future participations as well.”

Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, General Secretary Punjab Softball Federation Mr PN Passi and National Umpire from Maharashtra Mr Mukul Deshpandey were also present.

LPU is considered a strong partner with the Softball Federation of India in developing softball. The university has organised three youth national championships and is scheduled to host another this calendar year. E ducational scholarship opportunities are also available for some athletes attending the university.
