 National
Teams confirmed for historic 2014 Women's World Softball Championship held
in Europe for first time; Ticket sales more than halfway sold-out
Sixteen
National Teams -- the maximum allowed -- were confirmed for the XIV Women's World Softball
Championship that will be historically staged for the first time in
Europe -- in Haarlem, Netherlands from 15-24 August -- with ticket sales
for the event having already passed the halfway point to being
sold-out.
Japan,
which won the gold at the 2012 XIII World Softball Championship, will be
joined in Haarlem by China and Chinese Taipei to represent Asia.
Botswana, which represented Africa in the 2013 Youth (Under-19)
Women's Softball World Championship, will head to Haarlem on behalf of
Africa. The Americas will send five representatives: Canada, Cuba,
Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and 2012 silver medalist United States.
Europe, along with the Americas, will have the greatest representation at
the Women's Softball World Championship, with the Czech Republic, Great
Britain, Italy, host Netherlands and Russia all set to converge in Haarlem.
Oceania will be represented by 2012 bronze medal winner Australia and New
Zealand.

 Chinese
Pro Baseball League opens 25th season with large crowd, 'Thank You' to fans
The
Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL), the premier
pro-league in Taiwan -- an International Baseball Associate Member -- celebrated
the opening of its 25th season at New Taipei City's Xinzhuang Stadium
before more than 10,000 fans.
CPBL has
dedicated 2014 to the fans as a "Thank you" season, and monthly
festivals will be organised throughout the season to further heighten the
fan-experience and entertain surrounding/accompanying the actual ballgame
at the stadium.
In 2013, CPBL's attendance and
ticket sales spiked -- average attendance per contest totaled 6,079 -- an
improvement of nearly 150% over 2012.

 Game
schedule released for Junior Men's (U-19) Softball World Championship
The
official game schedule for the 10th edition of the Junior Men's Softball
World Championship, to be held in Whitehorse, YK, Canada was announced. The
ten-nation flagship youth event will feature 45 games in a round-robin
format, followed by four playoff (page playoff system) games. Youth
National Teams from five continents of the globe (Asia, Europe, North- and
South America, and Oceania) will unite on the two competition fields at the
Pepsi Softball Centre in Whitehorse. Opening ceremonies will begin at 17:30
at the main competition field, which will be followed by Canada meeting
Europe's Czech Republic in front of the home crowd. The gold medal game
will take centre stage on 20 July at 16:00, and will be preceded by the
bronze medal match at 13:00.

 Korea's
KBO sees pre-season attendance jump 32.1% from 2013; goal of 7 million
spectators set for 2014
Officials
with South Korea's top professional league, the Korea Baseball Organization
(KBO) -- an International Baseball Associate Member -- have confirmed a
32.1% jump from 2013 in attendance in pre-championship friendlies
("Spring Training"), with 314,286 spectators experiencing
in-stadium action across the fifty pre-season matches that were
organised.
Just ahead of this past
weekend's 2014 official opening, KBO executives also announced that they
estimate an increase of 9% growth in 2014 in regular-season attendance from
2013, which would push yearly attendance figures above the historic level
of 7 million.

 2015
SEA Games to feature Softball, 35 other sports
Both Men and Women's Softball
are on the sports programme for the 28th South East Asian Games (SEAG)
Singapore 2015. They join the list of the 36 sports on the programme. About
7,000 athletes from 11 participating nations will compete in the Games.
Philippines -- men and women -- are the defending champions from the 26th
SEA Games in 2011.

Baseball 'Tournament Officials Seminars' to be organised in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Baseball
Association will be hosting the International Baseball Asia seminars
for Tournament Officials in Hong Kong from 17-21 April 2014.
Japan's
Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) -- an International Baseball
Associate Member -- will send their NPB Umpire Instructor to help lead
umpire instruction, mechanics and judging balls and strikes.
International
Baseball partner, Japan's SSK, will be providing professional quality
official apparel for the umpires and officials.
Over thirty-five Asian Baseball
officials -- from Afghanistan, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan
and Singapore -- have registered for the seminar.

La
Liga de Béisbol Profesional China abre su 25ª temporada con una gran

Coreana aumenta audiencia de pretemporada un 32.1% respecto 2013; 7
millones de espectadores objetivo para 2014
